Testing locations

The comprehensive research program of the GREEN CONCRETE project is performed at 4 testing locations, which are briefly described below:

Testing location Erfurt / Germany

climate data (10 years average)

  • temperature 10 °C
  • precipitation 495,1 mm

36 test sites on the property of the Fachhochschule Erfurt
12 giant lysimeter
2 recycling materials
1 natural gravel as reference
Materials are provided by project partner Kalkwerk Herbsleben

Investigations

At 12 test giant lysimeters have been installed. The amount of seepage water is quantified exactly. Together with the data gained by the modern climate station of the Fachhochschule Erfurt a detailed water balance and microclimatic impact of gravel turf is elaborated.

Testing location Veitshöchheim / Germany

climate data (10 years average)

  • temperature 9,7 °C
  • precipitation 511,2 mm

36 test sites on the property of the Landesanstalt für Wein und Gartenbau
12 giant lysimeter
2 recycling materials
1 natural gravel as reference
Materials are provided by project partner Höhn

Investigations

The Landesanstalt für Wein und Gartenbau investigates the physical and chemical properties of the seepage water of gravel turf. Like in Erfurt also 12 giant lysimeters have been installed.

Testing location Goldrain / South Tyrol / Italy

climate data (10 years average)

  • temperature 11,4 °C
  • precipitation 702,8 mm

40 test sites at the train station of Goldrain
Monitoring facility for 24 test sites
3 recycling materials
1 natural gravel as reference
Materials are provided by project partners Marx and Dal Farra

Investigations

The test sites in Goldrain are subjected to real parking scenario. By means of a monitoring facility the maximum loading of gravel turf shall be ascertained.

Testing location Eßling / Vienna / Austria

climate data (10 years average)

  • temperature 9,8 °C
  • precipitation 520,0 mm

72 test sites on the property of the Institute of Soil Bioengineering, University of Natural Resources and Applied Sciences Vienna
5 recycling materials
1 natural gravel as reference
Materials are provided by project partners Ökotechna, Böhm and Hollitzer

Investigations

The scientific staff of the institute of Soil bioengineering observes the vegetation development at all testing locations.
